IOLA & RURAL FIRE DEPARTMENT
AND AMBULANCE SERVICE
At a familiy gathering, a loved one suddenly grabs his chest and collapses to the ground. Someone calls 911 as family members try to figure out what is happening. When the alarms goes off, EMTs respond to the call. When the ambulance pulls into the driveway, the EMTs gather their equipment and rush into the home. They immediately assess the patient, begin treatment, then load him on the ambulance and transport him to the hospital. Thanks to their medical skills and efficiency, the family member is able to return home later that day. This is what it is like to be an EMT for the Iola Ambulance Service.
